Could a generic monster franchise be blessed with better leading ladies than “The Mummy?”
The first two “Mummy” movies had the feisty, fabulous Rachel Weisz to kick around. And now, with that Oscar winning brunette stepping aside, we’re treated to Maria Bello running from CGI apparitions in “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.”
Now, if we could do something about Brendan Fraser …

Alright, I have to say that I popped in the Mummy 3, excited to see more of my favorite couple Evy and Rick, who’s amazing chemistry is due to the steam-filled amazingness that is the pairing of Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. They had the best chemistry EVER and that truly showed in the first two films, it is what made them so outstanding to me, and the reason why The Mummy 1 is my FAVORITE movie ever! So when the second I saw they changed Evy to this new chick, i was in shock. like, WTF?! kind of shock. I waited a little while thinking “alright, maybe there was some reasoning behind it”…obviously not! this new chick and Brendan have NONE of the incredible Evy and Rick chemistry AT ALL! i took out the movie and sent it straight back to where it came from without watching the rest because of the change in cast. I read the books for the Mummy as well, and honestly (especially in the first movie) i couldn’t picture ANYONE else playing the quirky, sexy, mysterious, impossible-to-love character that is Evy. Rachel IS Evy, Brendan IS Rick, and there is No changing that or messing with the cast!
