All we are saying … is give TM a chance — WHAT WOULD TOTO WATCH?

All we are saying … is give TM a chance

Director David Lynch is at it again - trying to save the world via Transcendental Meditation.

I’m guessing he means well, but does he truly believe his advice will fall on anything but deaf ears? And could he actually gain access to Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva? I mean, Michael Bay can all but walk into any prime minister or president’s office, right? “Hey, you made “The Island!!” Come on in!

But Lynch? Only a true movie buff can tick off his best movies, and there’s not a box office hit in the bunch.

Lynch definitely has some access

and an intriguing and compelling, if unusual, message (not unlike his films)

just like when TM first came to the US in the 60s, the seeds get sown and pretty soon its more accepted and even somewhat commonplace

Great info, hi dee ho … thanks for sharing it. Guess he may be chatting with more heads of state down the road. I stand by my assertion that his well-intentioned plan is doomed to fail.

i guess it depends on how one defines failure - if he sows the seeds and down the road some limited initial implementation occurs, i suspect that would be considered a success

multiple schools in the US have announced their participation, through his foundation:

its probably a longer term strategy - these meetings seem mainly aimed at getting the dialogue started

my .02 anyway

Your .02 is more than welcome … I’m a cynic when it comes to plans like this. I see the intractable violence across the globe and think all the meditation in the world won’t help. Then again, doing nothing doesn’t help either, right?

well, personally, i think it could only help

I’m just passing through from Google alerts. I have an alert set on Lynch out of curiosity over his doings.

The basic 20 minutes twice a day meditation is just a relaxation exercise, but for TMers at Lynch’s level of total involvement it’s a full-blown cult. I know, I was a TMer for 15 years. If you’re interested I describe it at suggestibility.org. No money will change hands :) , just if you’re interested.

Food for considerable thought, Joe … thanks for checking in on it.

Hi, I got here via Google Alerts. I was a TM teacher for 15 years, trained as a teacher by Maharishi 30 years ago when he used to do it personally.

There is a *lot* going on under the covers that the public doesn’t know aobut. If just you do “twenty twice a day” then TM is just a “relaxation excercise.” But at Lynch’s level of involvement it is a full-blown cult. I have a web site on the subject, suggestibility.org. No religious agenda. Just if you’re interested. Cheers.
