Not another movie list

Not another movie list

The folks at The Times of London have given us another Top 100 movie list (hat tip: Mad Minerva). So why bother reading the latest list compilation?

For starters, it’s always a gas to relive the great movies. I’ll take any excuse to do that. And this list tries to be provocative with some atypical selections.

Sure, “The Godfather” is represented here, but so, too, is “The Breakfast Club” and “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.”

The list seems to give more weight to archetype films, movies which set the mold that other flicks soon followed.

It’s rarely helpful to moan about your favorite film not making such a list. That’s one reason these lists are made in the first place – instant feedback. Better, check out the selections and bulk up your Netflix queue.
