The emperor's droids on the attack in The Clone Wars

George Lucas has no intention on moving on from the movie that made him rich/famous/admired the world over.

No, don’t expect any smaller, art films from the man who gave us Jar Jar Binks (hat tip Mad About Movies).

He’s too busy with the new “Clone Wars” animated feature (out Aug. 15) and re-releasing the first six “Star Wars” films in 3-D. Is there a 12-step program for Star Wars addicts? Every time Lucas dips back into the SW well, he reduces himself as a filmmaker.

UPDATE: Nick Nunziata over at CHUD take his whacks at Lucas, too.

(Photo: The new animated feature “The Clone Wars” is a bridge between “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith” in “Star Wars” mythology)

Wish I could echo your Pineapple enthusiasm … tho it looks like it’s giving The Dark Knight a run for its money this weekend…

Oops…I was “thinking” of typing in “Tropic Thunder” instead (this goes for next week, of course; great THS parody on E! of all places BTW), though I suppose anything even halfway entertaining could apply; so let’s blame it on a contact “misprint” then ;)

In a perfect world Lucas would let someone else remake all the Star Wars films starting from Return of the Jedi on. The same goes for the Raider’s sequels.

It’d be nice if he’d at least have given American animators some work instead of those in Singapore and Taiwan in making Clone Wars.

Lucas wisely let two different directors tackle “Empire” and “Jedi” and look at the results. I still have a fondness for “Jedi,” even though many people like you, Opus, think that’s when he started turning toward the creative Dark Side.

Hmmm … how about letting someone remake Star Wars … as a comedy!!

Jim Carey as Luke; Sid Ceasar (is he still alive?) as Obi Wan; Chevy Chase as Han Solo; Tina Fey as the Princess; Verne Troyer as Chewbacca; and Bill Murray as Darth Vadar ….

Later, Mickey Rooney as Yoda … Spaceballs live!

Chase … I like that.

I guess as long as Lucas is alive, we won’t see any “Star” remakes, alas.

cftoto I cold be mistaken but wasn’t the direction Lucas was taking the franchise, with ewoks and such one of the reasons for the split between Lucas and his producing partner Kurtz?
