Rocky! Rocky!

Rocky! Rocky!

August 11, 2008

I readily admit “Rocky Balboa,” the sixth entry in the formidable “Rocky” franchise, was far better than anyone had a right to expect.

But what’s with the incessant love for all things “Rocky” on the Web?

I spend way too much time analyzing my web site’s stats, in part to learn what works and what doesn’t for readers. The “search” section of my site’s dashboard shows me what terms lead people to What Would Toto Watch?

And every single day the word “rocky” appears in this listing, often among the highest terms listed.

What gives? “Rocky Balboa” is already two years old and no new “Rocky” films are forthcoming (right, Sly?).

But plenty of people can’t let go of the italian Stallion. Clearly, Sylvester Stallone did more than create a career for himself with his 1976 film breakthrough. He created a cultural icon that resonates still today.

The underdog story continues.

The clip says it all, cheesy but it works. I watched the box set again with my girlfriend who loves it (missing out number 5 because that was awfull), we can not get bored of it and will watch it again some time this year. I also have Rocky on my ipod all the time.
The film makes you feel good and gives youthe soirit to do what ever you need to do not matter the put down, its great. Sly is a genius for writing this and is truly a come back king especially with Rambo which again was a great film.

He clearly hit a nerve … and “Rocky Balboa” was a brilliant way to wipe away the bad memories from part V.
