Hollywood needs Bill Pullman. He’s the everyguy actor who’s not too famous, not too handsome and not too overwhelming that he overshadows the material.
He’s got a full head of hair, and he’s American to the core – Middle America, to be precise. No stuffy accents here.
The real Pullman hasn’t worked in many high-profile projects of late, but he’s front and center in the new indie dramedy “Bottle Shock.”
Here’s my list of today’s best Bill Pullman types. See if it matches yours!
- Jeff Daniels – how many people confuse Daniels and Pullman ’til this day?.
- Jeff Bridges – the best actor of this bunch, but he’s older now which lets him embrace his full Pullman.
- Bill Paxton – he may be the star of “Big Love” but movie-wise he’s a true Pullman.
- Treat Williams – another Pullman who went the small screen route (“Heartland,” “Everwood”).
- Greg Kinnear – he’s a Pullman in training.
Update: A friend suggests David Strathairn as a Pullmanite. Agreed.

Good list, but I think you need to swap Dennis Quaid for Treat Williams.
Quaid’s a great Pullman … but I see him as an almost big star.Still, he could easily be included here.
Jeff Bridges for sure! He’s the best.
ha-ha! I just googled Jeff Daniels, Bill Pullman, Bill Paxton and Greg Kinnear to see if anyone but me mixed them up, and here was this story.
