Cruise comeback at full speed?

Tom Cruise in Lions for Lambs

Could Tom Cruise’s snarky cameo in “Tropic Thunder” be bringing his career back from the brink so soon?

Cruise needs a hit, and his upcoming WWII flick “Valkyrie” looked like anything but. The film got bumped and bumped again and was set for an early ‘09 release. The trailer hardly inspired confidence.

Now, the film has been pushed UP – it’ll bow Dec. 26.

Based on a true story, “Valkyrie” follows Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg (Cruise) and his plot to take out one of history’s worst villains – President Bus– I mean Adolf Hitler. (Didn’t get my latest Bush Derangement Syndrome shot). The film co-stars Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, Carice van Houten, Thomas Kretschmann, Eddie Izzard, Christian Berkel and Terence Stamp.

Looks like Stallone could have competition for the 2008 Worst Actor Razzie after all!

Wait, Eddie Izzard is in Valkyrie? Seriously? As an executive transvestite Nazi or what?
