More HD on the way

More HD on the way

Grumpy that too many stations still exist in an HD-free zone?

It’s getting better. Finally.

Cinemax announced today that come Sept. 1, it will broadcast in ’round the clock HD. That would make it, according to the folks at Cinemax, “the first and only 24 hour, seven day a week True HD (1080i) premium channel.”

That’s another HD upgrade that doesn’t feature 1080p broadcasting, but we’ll have to take the baby steps as they arrive.

It will be really interesting to see where we are in 5+ years with respect to available HD content and more importantly HD hardware.

I don’t expect to see more than 1 generational change in panel tech technology in that time. What really stokes me is what manufacturers will be able to do with video processing technology in the next five years.

Any bets on if we will actually see SED in five years or affordable OLED large panels in five years?

My crystal ball is fuzzy, Dimitrios, but I will say people (me … others?) are fed up that we have to pay so much for our cable/dish bill just to see HD. I pay 10 bucks extra for the privilege, and all the good HD channels are still out of my reach.
