Trailer heaven — WHAT WOULD TOTO WATCH?

Trailer heaven

August 28, 2008

You can’t call yourself a movie fan if you don’t get a thrill from the green screen that announces, “The following preview has been rated …”

Just not possible.

It’s even better when the trailer that follows is a hum dinger. Saw two trailers before my screening of “Traitor” tonight that fit that criteria.

“Appaloosa,” a new western starring and directed by Ed Harris, made me wanna take horse riding lessons. Harris and Viggo Mortensen, an actor who should have lived in the golden age of westerns, star in this oater about a pair of hired guns out to clean up town.

Who cares if that plot has been recycled more often than Madonna’s crucifix stage stunt?

The trailer is simply top notch.

The sneak peek at “Burn After Reading” isn’t quite as tasty. But it’s the potential that hooked me. Clooney and Pitt acting moronic - and the Coen brothers pulling their strings. If it only could rise near the level of “Raising Arizona” I’d be in heaven.

I really like the cast in “Appaloosa.” I am a big fan of Viggo and Ed. Renee and Jeremy are an added bonus! Looks like a fun western.

I’ve been seeing the previews for “Burn” for awhile now… if it wasn’t the Coen brothers I would think it’s too stacked with stars, but because it is the Coen brothers I will see it on opening night.

Good point re: “Burn,” Heidi … we cut the movie slack because of the Coen brothers’ name value. And they’ve earned it. If it misfires, it’ll do so in a big way … but I’m confident it won’t
