Joel and Ethan Coen hardly seem the type to buckle under public pressure. Why else would they end their films, even neo-classics like “No Country for Old Men,” in such frustratingly vague ways?
So any worries that they might overthink their follow up to the Oscar-winning “Country” are quickly deflated with “Burn After Reading.”
The new comedy features the Coens’ glossiest cast and more of their bleak comic sensibilities. But audiences will be blown away by Brad Pitt’s nutty performance as a fitness instructor with a mind made of mush. Pitt shatters any thoughts we bring into the theater about “Brangelina” and forces us to reconsider his range.
He’s just one reason why “Burn” scorches a cavalcade of targets. My Washington Times review explores more reasons why the film will be embraced by Coen lovers.

Brad Pitt can be so funny, as long as he’s not taking himself too seriously… in any case, it’s about time someone made good use of his habitually spastic arm movements
