We might have an unexpected box office champion this weekend, if one random sampling can be trusted.
Caught a screening of “Righteous Kill” tonight, and I expected to stare out at a sea of empty seats.
But the line to see the new Al Pacino/Robert De Niro cop flick stretched far beyond the theater’s glass doors.
Inside, I saw young and middle aged folks of all nationalities waiting to see the first true teaming of the film icons on screen.
“Kill’s” competition this week is the poorly reviewed chick flick “The Women” and the Coen brothers’ “Burn After Reading.”
Maybe audiences aren’t ready to let go of two longtime favorites – will file my “Righteous Kill” review tomorrow.

“Heat” does not count?
They had one scene together in “Heat” … which is why I used the word “true” — they’re in nearly every scene together here, and that’s what fans want.
