The marrying kind

The marrying kind

My wife is a reluctant movie fan. Actually, I’m being generous.

Mrs. WWTW didn’t know who Robert De Niro or Al Pacino was when we first met. And don’t ask about her Jack Nicholson impression – easily the worst in western civilization.

But she laughed at a good 85 percent of my jokes, so I put my worries over her lack of movie knowledge on hold.

One of my best decisions, to be sure.

Now, she’s my partner in crime at the theater. And I do my best to expose her to only the very best films.

For the hundredth time, I’m sorry about “Eight Crazy Nights.”

So I’m thrilled that a number of Alfred Hitchcock’s essentials are being re-released on DVD. “Psycho.” “Vertigo.” “Rear Window.” She hasn’t seen any of them, and I can’t wait to introduce her to Hitchcock’s remarkable body of films.

Make sure you check out the Hitchcock Premiere Collection. Its going to have 8 films including Rebecca, Spellbound, and Notorious. Three of Hitch’s best and they have been unavailable for a long time unless you were willing to buy the Chinese imports or shell out ridiculous amounts of money for the Criterion versions

Also, Vertigo is my favorite movie of all time.

Good tip, Blackhawk. Sometimes it’s best to skip the ‘new release’ section and head for the classics. And it’s odd that some movies are still not available on DVD.

“Rearview Window” is one of my favorite movies of all time and I’m not really into classic films.

Hope Mrs. WWTW feels the same way, Heidi. She doesn’t dig the classics, but I hope to change that.
