Off to see the latest horror film a studio was afraid to show critics - “Quarantine.”
The trailer suggests a cross between “The Blair Witch Project” and the recent “Cloverfield.” Let’s hope it’s a fraction as good as either. Horror junkies are like Cubs fans — they get their hopes up but ultimately know they’ll be let down in the end.
The scary part so far is how it beat up on “Body of Lies” in its first day of release. Why bother hiring big stars like Leo and Russell if you can get a bunch of no-names together and rock the box office?
Will post my review later today.

Apparently it’s a remake of a Spanish movie that came out very close to a year ago, so it was probably in development before its ‘parent’ was even released.
By the standards of even ten years ago, Leo and Russell are not “big stars”. Then again, neither are almost all of the current roster of movie stars.

True, JIC. We should use the term “movie star” in scare quotes these days. They don’t guarantee fannies in the seats and clearly don’t bond with audiences.
Am now dying to see “Rec,” the Spanish film you’ve mentioned. I’ve been hearing good notices on that one for a while.

I guess Hollywood is sick and tired of remaking Japanese horror films and figured Europe is a good place to mine for material to remake.
