From Toto to a nasty Ukrainian nanny - that’s quite a journey.
My first foray into foreign film was the 1988 heartwarmer “Cinema Paradiso.” It was the perfect introduction for a lad like me to embrace world cinema - the story involved a man with an unbridled passion for movies.
Plus, the film’s adorable protagonist was a child named Toto.
I’m still waiting for my residual checks.
“Paradiso’s” creator, Giuseppe Tornatore, has a new film out now, and it bears little resemblance to that warm and fuzzy film.
“The Unknown Woman” follows a Ukrainian nanny who goes to great lengths to invade the privacy of the family who pays her bills.
