Hollywood is funny. The TV show “Arrested Development” couldn’t find an audience … so a film studio has agreed to make a movie version of the Fox comedy, according to E! Online.
Huh?
Don’t get me wrong. “AD” was a terrific show, joining “30 Rock” as the best television comedy from the last 10 years. “The Office” and “Entourage” are runners up here.
But it’s hard to imagine a huge audience clamoring for the film version. The show appeals to an older crowd, and that’s hardly the demo movie studios demand.
Looks like the budget will come in around $15 million, which is pretty tiny for a major motion picture. Maybe they figure the eventual DVD sales will make up for it.
Either way, the Bluths are back.

YAY! It was a fun show, so I’m hoping for a fun flick to come out of it. Will it keep Ron Howard’s hysterically deadpan documentary-style voiceover narration?
I’m a huge Arrested Development fan, so this is great news. But the show wrapped up so well that I’m a little worried about re-opening it and ruining what came before.
I imagine they won’t shake up the format, but we’ll see.
One cast member is holding out … could be Michael Cera since his star has risen the highest since the show wrapped. I’m guessing Portia is free …
