President-elect Barack Obama hasn’t taken the oath of office yet, but he’s already working miracles in Hollywood – and beyond.
Suddenly, it’s cool to like America again. And to make pro-American movies! Even the forthcoming “Captain America” movie won’t be two hours of apologizing and groveling to the rest of the world.
Talk about hope ‘n’ change in action.
At least that’s what Entertainment Weekly tells us in its latest issue.
Check out what one “top film producer” anonymously told the magazine:
“Movies with American values at their core – truth, justice and the American way – those movies will hopefully be better received [around the globe].”
And for those who think the world will love the U.S. again, better think twice. The sympathy we “earned” after 9/11 was pretty short-lived. I expect the same will happen to our image abroad after a few months of the new administration, no matter its actions.
Let liberal Hollywood enjoy its moment. Its candidate won fair and square. But if in the next four years President Obama’s administration has brought The Fairness Doctrine back from the dead or practiced some of the campaign tricks it tried over the past few months, I want Hollywood to speak out in defense of Free Speech.
If not, the hypocrisy of global warming activists like Leonardo DiCaprio will pale compared to their silence on the one issue that should matter deeply to them.
