Usually it’s a great sign when an actor refuses to make a sequel to a beloved film.
But I’m making an exception based on the comments Matthew Broderick made recently regarding a possible sequel to “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”
The 46-year-old actor says he’s too old to play Ferris now.
“I can’t play young rebellious guys anymore.”
But that’s the point!
Imagine a well written sequel showing the person Ferris grew up to be – a salesman? an Internet millionaire? A stay-at-home dad? A hen-pecked husband?
The comic possibilities are endless.
Perhaps all the “Ferris 2″ scripts which landed on his desk over the years avoided those scenarios. If that’s the case, then I don’t blame Broderick for turning them all down.
