Trend alert! ‘Age of Obama’

President-elect Barack Obama hasn’t taken the oath of office yet, but that’s not stopping film critics from declaring the beginning of his “Age.”

Starting to see film critics use the term “Age of Obama” to describe certain movies that come anywhere close to mirroring the future president’s hope/change sloganeering.

Owen Gleiberman does so while picking “Rachel Getting Married” as one of his 10 best films of 2008.

Movies take years to go from script to finished product, and few people could have seen Sen. Obama’s meteoric rise coming. So let’s wait at least a year before letting loose with any Obama-film links, please?

Update: The trend continues …
