The Unites States doesn’t have royalty … at least the official kind seen elsewhere across the globe.
But look at our political leaders — the names Bush, Clinton and Kennedy keep cropping up in every election cycle.
And now Hollywood is following suit. The latest Oscar nominations all but christened Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as the King and Queen of Hollywood.
How else can you justify giving “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” 13 nominations, including one for Pitt as Best Actor?
And awarding a Best Actress nomination to Jolie for “Changeling” is an even bigger outrage. I bet plenty of TV actresses could just have easily delivered lines like, “Where’s my baby? I miss my baby! What have you done with my baby?”
Although not every actress could appear as gaunt as Jolie does in “Changeling.” She may weigh less than an Oscar statue.
The Golden Globes were stained for years by awarding Pia Zadora one of its gleaming statuettes.
Now, the Oscars risk a similar stain if they give their highest honors to two deeply undeserving actors, at least for their 2008 work.

I am so over those two clowns. Ordinarily, they can’t be bothered to stop for an interview while walking the red carpet, but they deigned to do so with Giuliana Depandi from E! at the SAG awards. They stopped by individually, and BOTH of them came across as cold, detached, graceless, thankless, and completely and utterly full of themselves. They suck and I really wish the world would give them the “privacy” they say they want and think they deserve despite years and years of attention whoring.
