There’s so much comic fodder surrounding global warming hypocrisy – just don’t hold your breath waiting for many comedians to exploit it.
So news that Spinal Tap, the band at the heart of Rob Reiner’s mockumentary “This is Spinal Tap” were reforming to create new music, gave me a glimmer of hope.
Surely these rock pranksters could taunt their fellow singers who preach environmentalism but burn carbon with reckless abandon, right?
Then I remembered the trio (expertly played by Michael McKean, Harry Shearer and Christopher Guest) performed the song “Warmer than Hell” at the 2007 Live Earth concert and my brief hopes evaporated.

AGW is today’s eminent nuclear war of the 60s through the 80s. It’s attractive to artists because “. . the end is near!” is a cheap trip to the land of the profound and meaningful.
Of all the anti-nuke junk art that was brought onto stage in those 30 years, has anyone really poked fun at the peacenik nuclear paranoia?
I can’t remember anyone doing so.
Good point … more fodder for filmmakers tired of sequels and remakes.
