Here’s The San Francisco Chronicle’s Peter Hartlaub on the new “Pink Panther” film and its curious casting choices:

“Both love interests for the 63-year-old Martin are in their mid-30s, which is annoying and distracting – especially considering the wealth of beautiful, talented actresses in their 40s and 50s. If nothing else, Jane Curtin is probably looking for work …”

well, his real life wife is in her early 30s. i guess he can’t act with anyone older, except maybe diane keaton.

This is hollywood we’re talking about. We’re lucky the actresses were over 21.

He’s a great match for Diane Keaton …

Funny, I’m not an old timer yet, but I found it so refreshing to see Keaton and Nicholson fall for each other in Something’s Gotta Give (a good movie with a lousy title … I interviewed the writer/director and she basically said they couldn’t come up with a title and shrugged her shoulders about the one they ended up with)
