The reliably astute Ronn checked in with his personal take on the original “Friday the 13th” and its star, Betsy Palmer:
It’s kinda funny that you mentioned Palmer’s disdain for the script. In college I worked for a cell phone company and I actually took a call from Betsy Palmer. We talked for a good 20 minutes. She told me that the only reason she took the movie was because her car broke down and the amount she was getting paid was the exact amount she needed for a new car. She sent me some autographed stills from her in “F13.” She is one of the nicest women out there and has embraced her cult status from this film.
