No, I’m not talking about dating multiple women a century younger than him … although that certainly is a fair question.
I’m more amazed at how he stays relevant well into his 80s in a field (S-E-X) that skews heavily toward youth.
Hefner served as the plot device upon which last year’s silly comedy “The House Bunny” pivoted around. And he’s got that reality show train wreck, “The Girls Next Door,” to call his own.
This Spring, he’s at it again in “Miss March.” The film concerns a man who falls into a coma for four years, and when he wakes up he finds the girl of his dreams is now on the cover of Playboy magazine.
Yeah, it could happen.
Of course, who pops up in the film’s trailer? Ol’ Hef himself, all but deified in his brief appearance.
Amazing. He’s been the walking symbol for the hormonal male for decades, and even at the age of 82 he still serves that function – or at least he does to Hollywood screenwriters.
But don’t think those scribes are delusional. They’re feverishly writing film projects to draw in the young audiences, and they clearly see Hefner as a magnet for that demographic.
Maybe there’s something to his signature silk PJs …

Hefner is pathetic. And icky.
I don’t debate either … but his longevity in our sex obsessed, youth obsessed culture is pretty fascinating.
Are you kidding? Hef has spent 50 years promoting the Hollywood elite in his magazine and entertaining them in his mansion. All he has to do is call in a few IOUs on that account.
Like the newspapers, Playboy Inc is suffering from internet porn availability so the company needs synergy with TV and the movies. Finally, I’m sure the company still has enough money to invest in a few cheap to produce movies. Think of it as product placement ads.
Again, I utterly agree. But Hollywood is a ‘what have u done for me lately’ kinda town. They wouldn’t insert Hefner in a movie if they thought he didn’t resonate with their beloved demographic.
Clearly, it’s super sharp of Hefner to cooperate with these projects, it just amazes me that his personal brand still resonates even though he’s an old timer.
I wouldn’t want to be his girlfriend, but I don’t think he’s icky or pathetic.
I watched his A&E Biography several month ago and I think the guy is probably a genius.
