OK, the “Australia” star’s Oscar hosting debut wasn’t that bad, but he hardly made us forget Billy Crystal.

Here are some random reflections from last night’s telecast.

WWTW chose five out of six right in the main categories. That speaks less to my Kreskin-like skills and more about how predictable the night proved.
Where was Jack??
I refuse to believe Judd Apatow directed that mediocre sketch involving the characters from “Pineapple Express” watching the Oscars. Note to Seth Rogen: stop admitting you wrote that piece.
If you took a poll of Oscar watchers, you’d see what they want the least in a ceremony is more song and dance moments.
The nation mourns the absence of a Mickey Rourke acceptance speech.
You can’t have an Oscar ceremony without Jack, can you?
