You have an intense desire to take a shower after watching it. Not sure I would feel up to watching a remake of either film. Unfortunately certain genres, especially horror, get an immediate reaction from the artsy fartsy set. Which is unfortunate because there are a lot of good horror movies out there. The thing i have never understood is why a lot of critics have this elitist attitude and have an extreme hatred for the horror genre. it's refreshing to see a film critic that will review a horror film with an open mind it doesn't matter if it is a horror film or a high brow art house film. if it is a good film it is a good film it doesn't matter what genre it is in. i agree with grofe when i saw the original ‘Last house’ it felt like i was watching a documentary it is an intense film. i wasn’t sure if the remake was going to be toned down but from what you said it seems like they didn’t. I don't care what the genre is; if its good - its good. I can't stand a reviewer that dismisses a film out of hand just because he or she hates horror films or chick-flicks. As you've already stated 'so long as it delivers on its promise'. BTW: The first time I saw the original 'Last House on the Left' I was convinced that I had witnessed an actual murder.
