Hathaway goes over the rainbow

Anne Hathaway didn’t get the Oscar last month for her gripping turn in “Rachel Getting Married.”

She got something better. Respect.

She’ll be playing the great Judy Garland in an upcoming biopic on the late singing legend. The Weinstein Company will produce the film version of the biography “Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland” and a stage production of the book. Both will star Hathaway.

She’s come a long way, baby.

I agree, she has come a long way. And I have to admit, I still haven’t seen “Rachel Getting Married,” but there’s just something about her that prevents me from taking her seriously as an actress. Maybe if I watch “Rachel Getting Married,” my mind will be changed. The last thing I saw her in was “Get Smart.”

That’s how I felt about her before I saw “Rachel” … just didn’t get what the fuss was all about.
