Getting to know you: Directors Edgar Wright and David Wain blog

The line between film reviewer and reader already collapsed thanks to the Internet.

A good thing, to be sure.

Now, more directors are going online to share their careers with fans.

Edgar Wright, the sublime director of “Hot Fuzz” and “Shaun of the Dead,” is posting a pic a day from his new film, “Scott Pilgrim Saves the World,” on his new blog. The director responds to some of his blog comments, too.

I can’t wait for his upcoming superhero film, “The Astonishing Ant Man.” Think he can bring something special to a genre that could grow very tired, very fast.

And then there’s David Wain, the director of “The Ten” and “Role Models.”

His site looks like an overblown ad at first, but click on the blog link and you’ll find some decent content.

Here, Wain calls on his web readers to flesh out a crowd scene for an upcoming project.

Smart.

Naturally, a director’s blog isn’t necessarily a good or instructive thing. All plugs and little content make for a very dull site. So let’s hope both Wright and Wain keep delivering.

Know of any other directors who blog? Let WWTW know and we’ll spread the word.
