Mickey Rourke still livin’ in straight to DVD-land?
The comeback kid’s road to redemption has hit a bump.
Mickey Rourke’s Oscar-nominated turn in “The Wrestler” seemed to shout his re-emergence as a major Hollywood player. He even got cast as the villain in “Iron Man 2.”
So why is his latest film going straight to video May 26?
The film, “Killshot,” also stars Diane Lane, Rosario Dawson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Not a bad lineup. Plus, it’s directed by John Madden of “Shakespeare in Love” fame.
And it’s still going straight to DVD?
We’re living in strange times when it comes to Hollywood product. The straight to DVD express is getting pretty crowded, with films either directly hopping aboard or showing up in a few measly theaters before thumbing a ride.
In “Killshot’s” case, it did hit a few random theaters, earning less than $20,000. That’s what “Crank: High Voltage’” will make in its first five minutes this weekend.
