Topless Biel goes straight to DVD

Big stars, small stars … stars of virtually every stripe these days are finding their films going straight to DVD.

Add Jessica Biel to the list. Even taking her top off couldn’t land Biel’s movie a theatrical release.

Biel works a stripper’s pole in “Powder Blue,” a new film co-starring Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker and Ray Liotta.

The film got the obligatory PR buzz – Biel’s a natural, exclaims her burlesque coach. But it still couldn’t coax film distributors to find the film a few theaters to haunt.

I find that picture offensive.

Not enough cleavage.

There are LOTS of pictures of Ms. Biel I would have preferred to post over this one. Objection noted!

To be blunt, I’ve seen the caps, and it’s the sort of bad-lighting awkward angle stuff that makes me want to go rent one of the better Emmanuelle movies.

Good recommendation, James …

Although my crush on Ms. Biel would likely force me to suffer through her latest effort.

I find this kind of funny, because here you have an actress who has built her career on her looks alone and when she decides to take her top off the movie company doesn’t think that is enough to convince folks to shell out 10 bucks a pop to see the movie.

Good point, Dimitrios. I also think I read where Biel insisted she wouldn’t go nude for a film, but am having trouble finding the interview where she said that.

Can’t recall right off the bat when and where she might have said that. But you never know what peoples true feelings are. Maybe she would want to do nudity, but certainly not while on 7th heaven. I don’t think she wanted to Lisa Bonet her career.

Who knows maybe she was always totally into nudity and was just waiting for the perfect moment and her and her handlers thought that this would be a perfect vehicle for her coming out.

I suppose that someone should tell these folks that topless actresses are just not that interesting anymore. Especially when you can find so much more on the internet these days. Wasn’t “We Own the Night” Eva Mendes big topless break through movie? At least that peice of garbage got a wide national release.

I saw “The Wrestler” this weekend and totally loved it. Also Marisa Tomie looked very good in her character’s natural habitat. But I was like meh, another topless actress. Not to say she wasn’t pretty, but in 2009 any man or woman that wants to see topless action doesn’t have to wait for the next R rated feature to see boobs. You don’t have to raid dad’s stash of hustler or playboy. You don’t have to ask to borrow your buddies tape. You don’t have to do any of the things you used to have to do in 1993. You just go and get it and 5 seconds after wanting to see it you can see it.

I always find it funny when people say they went nude because the part was right. Seems nudity can almost always be worked around, if needed…
