Rebootapalooza kicks up a notch this weekend with the re-launch of the “Star Trek” franchise.
Heck, it worked wonders for Batman and James Bond, so why not Kirk, Spock and the gang? When in doubt, go young.
Assuming “Trek” lives long and prospers at the box office, Hollywood will set its sights on the next franchise to reboot.
So what will it be? What venerable franchise do you think should be reborn for the 21st century?
How about young John McLane saving the day while still at the police academy?

i’d like to see a ‘Alien’ reboot i’m tired of all these crappy aliens vs predator movies a complete reboot could be good if done right. also i would like to see a fantastic four reboot because tim story the director of barbershop was not the right choice for fantastic four
A couple come to mind:
1. Smokey and the Bandit (CB lingo updated and all)
2. Dirty Harry
3. Warriors
No WAY could you get 2 and 3 past the PC Hollywood crowd, though
There is some talk of a FF reboot … and the Smokey idea is perfect. I can’t imagine they won’t tackle that soon….
and of course Burt will make a cameo…
1. Conan or Red Sonja – either one would be good with the right lead actor
2. The Last Starfighter – I’d love to see a sequel to it with today’s CGI
3. Star Wars Origins: Han Solo (or Lando) – leave George Lucas and his lame scripts out of it, and hand the franchise off to an interesting director like Zack Snyder or JJ Abrams. Who wouldn’t want to see Han or Lando’s origin story?
Night of the Living Dead – I know its been done but I’d love to see a new take.
The Exorcist – I know I’m playing with fire (no pun intended) but that might be fun.
Ghostbusters – The rumors are already rampant with Seth Rogan.
Robocop – LOVE the original but could be grittier.
What older movies should never be remade?
1. Indiana Jones (Nathan Fillion would be my choice)
2. Superman
3. Gremlins
Flash Gordon – Keep the Queen sound track and spice up the FX
Would LOVE to see a Han Solo origin story minus George Lucas’s input. An updated Last Starfighter would be cool too, though I’m sure they would find a way to screw it up. And didn’t they leave it open for shia labeouf to be the NEW Indiana Jones exploring like Ankor Watt in IndoChina just before the Vietnam War or something?
FYI: There is already a Red Sonja in production with Rose McGowen.
