Abrams on Shatner’s ‘Trek’ no show

“Star Trek” rebooter J.J. Abrams tackles the reason why William Shatner isn’t in his new movie in a chat on Sirius radio.

Methinks he’s spinning like a top.

It’s science fiction – you can write around virtually any situation. And the new “Trek” takes some liberties with the source material.

Because he knew that Shater’s Kirk would have done a flying kick into the face of Pine’s Kirk and that would have been that. He would have picked himself up, dusted off his hands, looked down at his younger self, and said, “You have to learn why things work on a starship…punk.”

In any event, in roughly 12 hours I’ll know just how badly this mauls Trek history.

what is it with all the “older” trek fans out there that think just because this film is different and doesn’t follow the other films that it is going to be bad. I am by no means a trekkie i have probably never seen an entire of any of the many star trek series throughout the years. I am going to see this new film. i think the casting is great
