Little Known Facts: ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ (1975)

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Watching the camp/cult classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” on DVD just can’t replace the live experience.

Although if you’re allergic to thrown toast DVD viewings are preferred.

But the film may not have become an interactive romp if not for the owner of the 8th Street Playhouse in New York. He allegedly started yelling at the screen during one midnight showing, coaxing other movie goers to start talking back as well.

The rest is transvestite screen history.

A lesser known nugget involves the film’s shoot itself. The musical mayhem took place at Bray Studios, the former home of the Hammer horror hits featuring the likes of Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing.
