Meeting John Travolta on a film junket left an impression on this journalist.
Sure, most actors work the junket circuit like champs, affably answering volley upon volley of questions without losing their cool. But Travolta really worked the process, shaking every reporter’s hand before sitting down and using all his movie star mojo in the Q&A.
But Travolta took a pass on the publicity chores for this week’s new thriller, “The Taking of Pelham 123.” The actor’s son, Jett, died in January and Travolta isn’t ready to return to the promotional circuit just yet.
CNN reports Travolta sent along a note asking audiences to check out his latest film.
Film critics often shred the movies they see or pounce on poor performances. It’s in their job description. But it’s also good to take a moment to note the humanity of the people on screen.

I pray he and Mrs. Preston get through this. I imagine there’s no getting over it only through it. I can’t even imagine losing a child.
