Will Megan Fox’s rant affect ‘Transformers’ sequel?

Will Megan Fox’s rant affect ‘Transformers’ sequel?

fox-megan

Let’s go to the “beautiful outside, ugly inside” file, shall we?

Megan Fox, the aptly named starlet who bedazzled us in “Transformers,” is out talking up the film’s sequel, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.”

Wow, the title’s as clunky as a Decepticon sans WD-40.

She told Total Film UK magazine how she might handle Megatron, the franchise’s eee-vil robot who wants to wipe out the earth:

“I’d barter with him and say instead of the entire planet, can you just take out all of the white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beating people in Middle America?”

Somewhere, a publicist is out there pulling every hair out of his/her head.

But does what Fox said matter to movie goers?

Will you re-consider supporting the film based on her ignorant comments? And would doing so only punish all the other hard-working folks who made the “Transformers” sequel possible – folks who never opened their big yaps wide enough to spew such hate?

It’s question that seems to keep coming up for movie lovers.

The movie has been made, the people lower on the food chain have already been paid, so a boycott wouldn’t hurt them. However I also don’t think a boycott in this case would make a difference one way or the other.

I may rent the film later on but Idoubt it, because of her remarks ,I didn’t like the first one anyway and the male star from the film, La La LaBoof, irritates the hell out of me.

If someone doesn’t want to see the film because of her remarks, or any of her work, you have to just to chuck it up to it being a matter of principle.

The cynic in me thinks it’s very possible the remark was deliberate to gain some free publicity for the film. When was the last time insulting religious people or people in flyover country hurt someone’s career or film?

KNo Gravatar June 10, 2009 at 7:28 am

I usually can’t see a film with a controversial and outspoken leftist star because it takes me out of the movie. I’ll make an exception in this case because her part is more “interesting scenery” than character. That and the fact that the main requirement to enjoy a Michael Bay movie is the ability to turn off the higher thinking functions.

John ReidNo Gravatar June 10, 2009 at 7:30 am

No, but uTorrent would.

DesNo Gravatar June 10, 2009 at 9:20 am

It won’t affect the sales. She’s a glorified extra in the movie. I probably wouldn’t see a Sean Penn movie because he’s always the star and has said things (not to mention his trips to see Chavez) that make me despise him enough to take a pass on his films. What Fox said is sad (especially since she’s from Tennessee), but doesn’t rise to the level of me changing my viewing habits.

Letterman, on the other hand, has convinced me I don’t need to turn on CBS under any circumstances. There are some lines you simply do not cross.

I dig you on Dennis Miller’s show, Christian. You guys have to figure out a way to hook up more during the summer. Lots of films to consider this year (and some we’ll need to desperately avoid).

KitNo Gravatar June 10, 2009 at 12:26 pm

I will see it because, as K said, “the main requirement to enjoy a Michael Bay movie is the ability to turn off the higher thinking functions.”

But I have already been avoiding her non-TRANSFORMERS roles, not because of her views, but because of her acting (or lack thereof).

GrofeNo Gravatar June 10, 2009 at 12:29 pm

Beautiful and stupid. You never see that in Hollywood.

And just in case you’re reading this Megan, that’s sarcasm. Google it.

I’m sorry, but her blank stare turns me off. Her head looks hollow.

I made it halfway through the first Transformers movie, so originally I was going to skip the sequel. Now, after reading Megan Fox’s comment, I’m going to skip it twice.

ArnoldNo Gravatar June 10, 2009 at 1:26 pm

She’s racist. If she said “can you just take out all of the brown trash, anti-gay, super Koran-beating people in Africa and Asia?” it would have outed her as a racist with nothing to hide behind.

SotRNo Gravatar June 10, 2009 at 1:28 pm

I had been looking forward to taking my son to this movie, not so much now. I will probably try to hold out for rental or catch it on cable at this point.

James in AustinNo Gravatar June 10, 2009 at 1:37 pm

I’m boycotting the movie because the first one was boring and because while a Transformers movie should have been the ultimate family fare, it was packed with jokes rejected from Apatow scripts.

Ugh, once again, Hollywierd myopia claims (or found) yet another skin-deep blame America firster whose initial reaction is to “take out” large sectors of fellow Americans she disagrees with — ha! ha? — never a reaction with venom against the fanatic Muslims and countless other groups that would truly enjoy seeing her country decimated.

I realize this means nothing to the producers or the bottom line but although we had been looking forward to seeing T2, and I was even considering buyingt he T1 Bluray disc to refamiliarize myself with the original, after reading Megan Fox’s rant I definately won’t support her or that franchise with another penny. I will never see another film Fox appears in.

alleNo Gravatar June 10, 2009 at 3:29 pm

Megan Fox has a VILE MOUTH. There are billions of women on planet earth that are prettier than Megan Fox. The movie Transformers is not about Megan Fox and she is NOT the source of the interest in the story. Megan Fox is yet another over-rated narcissist. To use the words of her narcissist friends, Megan Fox can “suck it”.

Nicol DNo Gravatar June 10, 2009 at 3:53 pm

“Somewhere, a publicist is out there pulling every hair out of his/her head.”

C’mon Christian, the truth is somewhere, a publicist is hoping those remarks get her the lead in a film that could get her a nod come awards season.

I do not think her remarks will hurt the film. Most people will have no idea she made them. Fox is just a flake who thinks she can “shock” people. She is as cliched as it gets.

Her comments that people should not care about the story are equally annoying.

JohnNo Gravatar June 10, 2009 at 3:59 pm

The easiest way to punish Hollywood while still seeing a movie that you want to see on the big screen is to simply wait 3-4 weeks to see it. Most movie distribution deals are structured so that the percentage of the box office that goes to the studio starts out very high (it can be 90%) and then drops off as the movie has been out for several weeks (down to, say, 50%) so if you wait to see a movie, you reduce the percentage that goes to Hollywood and keep a bigger percentage at your local theater.

So by, “Middle America”, does she mean Central America? Do they have any white trash?

Or is she too clueless to refer to the intended region as Central US? I don’t think I’ve ever heard the Central US being accused of such things.

What a waste of body.

dimitriosNo Gravatar June 10, 2009 at 5:17 pm

Wow I can’t believe any one would waste the brain cells that are destroyed arguing about anything that comes out of this girls mouth. See it or don’t see it, but to make your decision based simply on what miss tits and ass has to say is a little silly. Would you decide to pass on reading Crime and Punishment based on the cliff notes written by this girl.

I’ll see this one because I really liked the first one. The effects were cool, Optimus Prime was excellent, the movie treats the military with respect, and for crying out loud Micheal Bey knows how to blow stuff up.

I think us conservatives have to stop being so hypersensitive. We whine almost as much as this silly girl, but at least she has the fall back position of being totally and completly stupid, what is your excuse?

Preston from KentuckyNo Gravatar June 10, 2009 at 6:01 pm

Lets see, she is white and obviously trashy herself, from Tennessee so possibly a hillbilly, if she had any class at all, she is admittedly bisexual or trisexual or whatever so it would appear she may have some internal conflicts. If she would read the bible and learn some manners she might be able to sound somewhat legitimate. Pretty face on the outside, ugly heart on the inside.

cftotoNo Gravatar June 10, 2009 at 6:37 pm

Dimitrios – I agree to a point. The modern media game involves taking a person’s hateful comment and blowing it up out of all proportion. Since we can’t change that game, I thought it was important to show hate from another perspective – the Left’s version of it.

Her comments won’t stop me from seeing the movie … but it will be a deal killer for some, and it may also impact how I view her as an audience member.

The best actors, like Sean Penn, are so good at what they do that you forget the hate they spew. Can we say the same about Miss Fox?

And thanks for everyone for sharing their thoughts here – greatly appreciated.

Seriously,it’s really hard to take someone seriously, when they have grade school acting skills, and resembles a cheap, skanky, tranny on the cover of a Liquor Store smut mag(not that I’d know what that looks like) Michael Bay has been shamelessly big pimpin this chick to promote this movie. He looks like an 80’s smut peddler, showing up with her at his side at damn near every award show, like she’s his personal whore. But you gotta give it to him,the guy has literally taken a kids’ toy, turned it into a blockbuster movie, and he’s using sex to sell it,genious!!!

Poor Shia,he’s the real actor, and should be the main star, but he’s not even the big draw for this movie, sadly and shamefully,it’s Megan”botox” Fox.

I once heard a movie critic say: “Megan Fox is beautiful, until she opens her mouth”. Truer words were never spoken.

JohnFNWayneNo Gravatar June 10, 2009 at 7:14 pm

Once this franchise disappears (and I have a feeling it might be after this installment) so goes Ms. Fox. Her blockbuster career will be side-saddled into “dignified” nude appearances in indie leftovers or straight-to-DVD offerings. She’s not much of an actress, just like the thousands of other hot tail in Hollywood. Highly replaceable.

tonycinatiNo Gravatar June 10, 2009 at 8:37 pm

I’m personally going to fewer and fewer movies because of actors doing this very thing. When I go to a movie I want to get into it and enjoy it. If I went to see this movie everytime Fox was on the screen I would be thinking she should have kept her mouth shut because I don’t like her as a person now. No… I will not be going to see this movie.

THAT is what you are all freaking out over? Seriously? I think I may have said something similar after Kris Allen won American Idol. Just like you are allowed to spread rumors about Obama being the anti-christ, Megan Fox is allowed to speak her mind about people she doesn’t necessarily agree with. Come on middle America.. that’s 98% of everyone in Hollywood for you! Believe it or not, you cannot control everything.. especially not the multi-billion dollar franchise that is ‘Transformers’. Boycotting a movie is like vegetarianism: pointless. It’s not going to stop anything from dying. I doubt Megan, or anyone else, gives a [expletive] if you see it or not.

Bro, I’m not judging you, I’m just making an observation. Critisizing someone because you don’t agree with their viewpoint is the definition of intolerant. And by the way, she never mentioned the word “conservative”. To assume that Megan Fox was referring to ALL concervatives when she said “white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beating people” is to insinuate that all Conservatives are “white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beating people”. As a person who considers himself conservative on most issues; abortion, capital punishment, gay marriage, etc., I’m offended by your insinuation. By the way, i know my spelling is terrible.

Ms. Fox means nearly everyone in the flyover states. If her desire were granted, the iron boot would not be able to distinguish between the ones she specifically mentions and the ones she presumably would allow to live. I imagine there were such jokes told in Germany around 1925. Someone had to inure the German people to mass murder; it was probably done in this manner. She has given us a lighthearted call to genocide.

Wow, you must have seen a longer version of the interview that i missed, because i don’t remember her saying any of that. More likely, you’re either making assumtions or just making things up. Look, if you want to boycot the movie, buycot the movie. But do it because it’s a bad movie (Seriously, testicles made out of wrecking balls? Kevin Smith would call that “Low-brow”). But to start your own grass-roots censorship campain because you don’t agree with the eyecandy’s opinions is just assinine.
