The Wolverines are coming, the Wolverines are coming!
Again.
The remake of the ’80s action classic “Red Dawn” will feature “The Wackness’” Josh Peck and actress Adrianne Palickiof “Friday Night Lights” TV fame, according to the new film’s studio – MGM/UA.
The remake, set to start shooting in September, involves a Chinese/Russian invasion of the United States.
Peck, who WWTW spoke with a few months back, steps into the role created by Charlie Sheen in the original, pro America production.
The film is scheduled to hit theaters Sept. 24, 2010.

Red Dawn updated for today’s audiences:
The Chinese and Russians are forced to invade the US due to the effects of global warming, and unpaid debts from the American’s shameful lifestyle.
The President single-handedly stops the Chinese invaders in Denver and Russians in Juneau by apologizing for America’s historical imperialism, racism and profligate wasting of the earth’s resources. This is the first great victory of the war which delays the invasion long enough to secure loans from the EU for massive arms factories to be built in the districts of several prominent Democratic representatives and senators.
While the right wing, patriarchal, gun owning, bible thumping, racist, American flag waving trailer trash – who weren’t smart enough to get a real job – are being slaughtered wholesale by the enemy, the invaders will be defeated by a Daily KOS reading group of 15 year old gurl power hackers (Wolverines!) operating out of one of their mother’s basement in New York city.
Two predictions:
1. The Wolverines will employe IEDs, suicide vests
2. They will capture Russian and Chinese and make videos of them while wearing masks.
3. The Russian soldiers will call them terrorists.
Iraq-parallels will abound -moral equivalency will be the subplot dujour
I’ll pass.
On the brighter side… maybe they’ll execute Drake for being a traitor when he inadvertently makes out with Josh’s girl.
Drat — Turbo beat me to the Drake and Josh joke. But, wow, I’m really not impressed. What other actors from horrible Nick shows could the producers possibly cast? How about Jeanette McCurdy in the Lea Thompson role?
On the other hand, if they can get Harry Dean Stanton again, that would be super-duper.
Fellow Toledo-escapee Palicki or not, no John Milius, no Eric Porvaznik. R-E-S-P-C-P-T (I know how to spell it!)…

Speaking of Milius, I was checking out the latest “Magnum Force” DVD with Milius doing the commentary. It was pretty funny as he has a nice unpretentious, offhanded style. Almost as much fun as the movie.
