Drew Barrymore, famous for nearly her entire life, makes her directorial debut later this year with the grrl power drama “Whip It.”
No, it’s not about an all-girl Devo tribute band. The movie involves a pint-sized misfit (Ellen Page, of course) who decides to become a roller girl.
Looks like it’s assembled from cinematic scraps, but Barrymore’s a feisty film vet who shouldn’t be discounted easily. We’ll have to wait until its Oct. 9 opening to see if Barrymore can shift smoothly to the director’s chair.
