Audiences stung by Blunt’s ‘Iron’ snub

Audiences stung by Blunt’s ‘Iron’ snub

The suits won this round. The audience? Hardly.

Emily Blunt was in talks to star as the Black Widow in “Iron Man 2,” slated for release next May. But a “scheduling conflict” forced the film’s producers to go with Scarlett Johansson.

Call me skeptical, but if a studio of a blockbuster franchise wants an actress for a key role, I’d assumed it would get her one way or another.

Now, Johansson will bring the requisite va-va-voom and has better name recognition, but Blunt would offer more sexual  friction – and better acting chops – in a film already overloaded with new characters.

Too bad we couldn’ve both Emily AND ScarJo, rather than one of them and perennial buzzkill Goop Paltrow…

Actually found Paltrow likable enough in the first. Thought she played well off Downey, but who wouldn’t.

Not exactly sure what to expect from the sequel. The overloading of the cast doesn’t bode well, especially replacing Howard with Cheadle for no other reason than star power. The first madd $300 million with Howard, just how much more do they want?

Downey was on fire, but given the lackluster The Soloist, the new shabby Sherlock Holmes trailer and Iron Man 2’s questionable casting, one wonders whether contemporary Hollywood is going to drag his star down to his level. Granted these are great roles on paper, but a lot looks great on paper in Hollywood.

I thought the first half of iron man was good, because of downey jr. However the second half just seemed to be action and no dialogue. downey was basically a robot, kinda like bale in terminator
