Some actors take their research a mite too seriously.
Take Seth Rogen, the star of “Knocked Up” and the new “Funny People.” He played a stoner in last year’s “Pineapple Express,” and to hear him this week on “The Howard Stern Show” it seems he’s gearing up for a sequel.
Rogen, pitching “Funny People” alongside its writer/director, Judd Apatow, delivered that distinctive pot laugh over and again on the radio show.
WWTW is no pot expert, but I’ve listened to Dr. Drew Pinsky describe the pot laugh for years on his great “Loveline” radio show. It’s a staccato chuckle that steady pot smokers often get. Rogen even copped to smoking weed on the program.
Perhaps that’s why he thought the lethargic “Pineapple” was funnier than it actually was.

Pot? The only thing that would have made “Express” funny was crystal meth with a side-order of nitrous oxide.
JohnFN is 100% right. With my ears still ringing from the AC/DC show the night before, I settled in to watch Pineapple Express this weekend. Whoa. Now, I’ve always liked Seth Rogen. There’s something endearing about him that translates well in his movies but this was horrible. I was praying for the end after about 40 minutes. But my prayers went unanswered, and I lost another hour of my life.
I did hear a portion of his interview on Stern. His laugh was impossible to ignore and I wondered if he was doing bong hits in the studio.
