Hard to believe the return of one of Hollywood’s favorite movie monsters is still months away.
“The Wolfman,” starring Benicio del Toro as the hirsute anti-hero and Sir Anthony Hopkins, doesn’t hit theaters until Feb. 2010, but here’s a peek at the new film’s trailer (see below).
Thoughts?
In the meantime, here’s my favorite piece of Wolfman-related dialogue from, where else, “Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein:”
Larry Talbot: You don’t understand. Every night when the moon is full I turn into a werewolf …
Wilbur (Lou Costello): Yeah, you and 20 million other guys!

Looks like a great thriller, but Benicio Del Toro as “Laurence Talbot”? Come on. The guy looks and sounds like he’s from modern-day Brooklyn, and based on the trailer, he sticks out like a sore thumb.
Like casting Al Pacino in “Revolution” years ago?
What scares me is the Feb. release date … that’s a month bad movies often go to die …
Del Toro looks almost exactly like Oliver Reed when he appeared in Curse of the Werewolf.
The trailer looks great but I have to agree about casting Del Toro. And what gives with the Paul McCartney wig circa 1964?
