Few screenwriters generate as much press as Diablo Cody, the Oscar-winning scribe behind “Juno.”
No journalist could write about her two years ago without including “former stripper” in some part of the narrative, or referencing her tattoos or in-your-face persona.
Now, movie goers are left to wonder if she’s got another script that rises to the level of her indie charmer.
Enter “Jennifer’s Body,” the upcoming horror film written by the “former stripper.”
Horror films aren’t known for crackling dialogue – I’m being as gentle as I can be regarding my beloved genre. So it should be a treat to see one written by someone who takes great care in pairing words together.
So why does the trailer for “Body” looks so … anemic?
A few lines snap, crackle and even pop, but the film bears a straight to cable scent about it. And couldn’t star Megan Fox try changing her expression – just for chuckles?
Maybe it’s a case of the film’s best sequences being too raw for general audiences. Or maybe it’s that rare horror movie where the script far outpaces the scares.

Doesn’t build suspense or a sense of terror, does it? Laughed at a couple of the band names (from the soundtrack credits) :
‘Fueled by Ramen’
‘Panic at the Disco’
funny
The trailer really pushes the musical connection – a la “Juno.”
Am guessing horror junkies care less about the soundtrack and more about the gore.
Fueled by Ramen is a record label, not a band. I’ll tell you what, though – the name is a damn sight better than the music of any of the bands on their roster.
