Miller time at Turner Classic Movies

dennismillermug

My occasional appearances on “The Dennis Miller Show” have taught me one thing about the avuncular Mr. Miller – the man loves his movies.

So it’s more than fitting that Turner Classic Movies (TCM) tabbed the Emmy-winning comedian to be its guest programmer for October.

Miller, who currently hosts a nationally syndicated radio show, will join TCM Host Robert Osborne in presenting four films Oct. 21.

Each month, TCM invites a celebrity to pick a few of his or her favorite films to introduce on the cable channel and, more importantly, share personal connections to the movies in question.

Other guest programmers will include Richard Lewis (Sept. 21), Sir Anthony Hopkins (Nov. 30) and singer Neko Case (Dec. 8).

Miller’s films include William Wyler’s “Dodsworth” (1936), Carol Reed’s “The Third Man” (1949), Alfred Hitchcock’s “Suspicion” (1941) and “Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House” (1948).

Miller’s HBO show was brilliant, especially the photo segment. Why not redo the whole deal on FOX? Count one viewer right here.

Ditto… and I can completely see him loving The Third Man. Robert Osborne and Rich Eisen (NFL Network) are the most blessed men in America — at least professionally.

I remember watching Miller on his brief Fox talk show.

I had two quick thoughts in succession – geez, he’s sharp, funny and erudite … and man, this show can’t last for that very reason.

I think radio is a great fit for him … then again, I love radio and am glad to have him on it.

Love Dennis Miller, interesting choice of movies, but count me as disappointed that the Hitchcock film with the worst ending is on his list. Perhaps he can persuade me otherwise.

I’m surprised Ted Turner would allow anyone but a stone freakin’ political liberal (Alec Baldwin, anyone?) on his network. But it’s great. Wait. Make sure no one tells Turner about Dennis’ transformation.

Dennis is a movie fiend, I can hardly wait to see what his picks!

AAAAIIIIIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

Two of my favorite men together in one room? I’ll be screaming like a fangurl all the way through. I’ll have to tape it so I can play it back later when I’m calmer.
