The new Walken?

The new Walken?

Nobody reads a line – or dances on escalators, for that matter – like Christopher Walken.

So who is the guy in the new film “Couples Retreat,” and why do I get a Walken vibe from him?

The person in question is Peter Serafinowicz, a British actor and comedian who plays a small but key role in the new Vince Vaughn comedy.

Now, no one can replace Walken himself, especially since he still works regularly. But there’s something Walken-esque about Serafinowicz both in his facial features and his performance in the movie, coming our way Oct. 9.

(Note: He’s the guy in the light blue suit addressing the dinner table in the trailer)

Big fan of Serafinowicz. He really isn’t known here in the US (outside of his role as the voice of Darth Maul in “The Phantom Menace” or as Simon Pegg’s roommate in “Shaun of the Dead”), but his work on British TV is great. Besides several great guest spots on sitcoms, like “Spaced” and “Black Books”, his own series are extremely funny. In particular, the two seasons of “Look Around You.” Season 1 parodies the ’70s educational films shown in schools and Season 2 is a parody of ’80s popular-science programs. Well-worth seeking out. He also has a new sketch comedy show called “The Peter Serafinowicz Show” which aired earlier this year.
