Worst horror movie … ever?

Worst horror movie … ever?

Count this critic as a proud member of the “Rob Zombie’s ‘Halloween‘ reboot was flat out awful” club.

But was Zombie’s splatterpiece the worst horror film ever?

The folks at MovieFone recently dug through the genre’s trash bin to find the worst of the worst.

Zombie’s re-imagining of the Michael Myers saga came in at number one, followed by “Plan 9 From Outer Space” and “Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2.”

It’s useless to get too worked up over these lists, but bravo to Moviefone for nailing these clunkers dead to rights:

A few of the films on the list cross the “so bad they’re good” barrier, meaning they don’t actually belong on a list like this. Still, you’ll find enough genuine clunkers here to warrant your attention.

Gee, what a surprise to find this list littered with so many remakes and sequels (not to mention remakes of sequels). I have to disagree with the inclusion of “Plan 9 From Outer Space”. I find its silliness rather endearing.

Yeah, “Plan 9″ is a camp classic and likely wasn’t trying so hard to scare the heck out of us.

For what it’s worth I disagree with many picks on their list. It’s very typical picks I see among people who don’t like the genre as it is. Among horror fans many of these films do not belong on the list. I know fans love Herschell Gordon Lewis and having met him earlier this year (plus I got the chance to see Blood Feast on the big screen if I may brag) I can also state the man is one of the nicest men you can meet. As Paula mentioned Plan 9 doesn’t deserve to be on this list. Blair Witch 2 is an easy target but when was the last time anyone watched it? I say watch it now with all of the Blair Witch phenomenon behind you and I think a lot of people might be surprised. A few picks on there I can let stay or at least let slide but a few of them are clearly on there as easy targets and my guess is almost none of the people doing the list have even seen. Just par for the course for being a horror fan though. That’s why we do our own lists. lol
