"The gays" aren't protesting anything. Lara is just one crazy transgender person with some insane idea that evolution is leading toward all humans being transgender... whatever the fuck that means.

Welcome to the age of the internet: where one person with a damned blogspot account can make noise when all they should be doing is thinking before they start speaking.

To Lara... please learn how to spell, sweetie. It is "hetErosexual." You keep forgetting that extra "e."

this protest makes no sense. the movie is based on another world with a very expensive mineral and one veteran lost his legs and wishes to walk again. so for a second chance he is able to cross space to a new world and be able to walk in an alien body and find some love in the alien culture among one of the locals, and who said straight is a behind the times in sexuality? how do you think family's re starting naturally? how do lesbians have kids, they adopt or get injected with sperm from a man they don't even know, not natural. Gay men adopt.

So in the future gays and bis or lesbians are gonna rule the world and being straight is going to be extinct, last time i checked being straight covers 93% of the world and other sexuality covers 7% and it has gone down and gone up but stayed around that area.

o and this movie was made by a man named james cameron who wanted to create a fun world that has action and great visuals, he not predicting the future or anything. he was this place to be real and be able to imagine if it was real. he just added romance to have a peal to most women not just men. he has been working on this film since he was 14 years old and you guys think a 14 year old is biased and think there should be no gays or bi's in the world, he made this from his imagination.

Most movies are heterosexual and then one comes along with aliens so you start to freak out because of aliens. this is a pointless protest.

Given that the "strong female character" as defined by Cameron and many other male writers and film makers is more often than not an aggressive, dangerous and driven character with prominent boobs. I submit that such characters do not influence women to see the movie and are, in fact, there only as "Girls with Guns" eye candy for the male audience.

It's very rare for women writers or film makers to include such characters and when women do attend an action movie, the main criteria are hot male characters and romance.

Which explains the increasingly important romance angle for Cameron.

One has to wonder about the thought process involved in the making of Avatar. Who decided that the Jake Sully character in Avatar had be "hetrosexual" or "straight"? And why have him engaged in a hetro-type relation with someone from another world? Was there anyone who pointed out that this film was taking place in the FUTURE and it would be more likely, given current evolutionary trends that Jake would be gay, bi or transgender?

The film also makes a gross assumption that the old hetrosexual ways on Earth would somehow be occurring with another race of being on a totally different world with its own unique culture.

I agree with you about True Lies. That striptease scene is so mean-spirited that it left a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the movie, and it's the main reason I haven't revisited it for a second viewing.
