The new to DVD film “Vampire Killers” just arrived at my door, and it’s got me a bit confused.
The film, out Dec. 29, is a UK import promising a pastiche of horror and comedy, sort of like “Shaun of the Dead.”
At least that’s what the film’s packaging tells us.
But when I popped the DVD into my laptop computer the sidebar read “Lesbian Vampire Killers.”
Where did the lesbians go?
The film’s original title, “Lesbian Vampire Killers,” got shortened en route to the U.S. and A., as Borat would say.
Now, if Howard Stern taught me one thing, it’s that people love lesbians. So why the marketing shift?
Frankly, “Lesbian Vampire Killers” has an edge to it, the whiff of something naughty. “Vampire Killers” just sounds … generic.
Will watch over the holidays – what could be more appropriate for Christmas than to watch sexy vampires? – and provide a full report at WWTW.
