Don’t miss the original ‘Bastards’

Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds,” his re-imagining of the 1970s action movie “Inglorious Bastards,” made too many people forget the source material.

That’s what happens with a little creative spelling.

The 1978 film will be available starting Wed. (Jan. 13) courtesy of FilmBuff Cable VOD (Video on Demand) services.

The World War II adventure stars Bo Svenson and Fred Williamson – it doesn’t get more ’70s than that – banding with the French resistance to strike a blow against Nazi Germany.

The film has little of the artistic wizardry Tarantino gave to his version. But the original is more unadulterated fun. And far less pretentious.
