Sylvester Stallone isn’t the box office draw he once was.
So it’s smart to play up the kick-arse nature of his upcoming film, “The Expendables,” in this new teaser poster.
The names ticked off on it should send ’80s era movie goers into a tizzy, and throwing in Jason Statham and Jet Li only sweetens the pot.
The action flick hits theaters Aug. 13.

I’m a child of the ’80s so that being said no action movie can compare to 80’s action films. I guess now I know what fans of 70s films felt when they said all these films starring stallone, van dam, arnold, and the like couldn’t hold a candle to 70s action films.
I’m surprised the poster doesn’t mention Eric Roberts. From Star 80 to The Dark Knight, nobody plays sleazebags better than him. (And frankly, these days I’d rather watch an Eric Roberts movie than a Julia Roberts movie, if you know what I mean).
The casting, at least, is designed to throw the widest net over the demographic targets. I hope that the film meets these expectations.
