Who gives the best interviews? It’s not who you think
This film reporter isn’t gonna lie – it’s cool to interview big stars like Tom Hanks and Will Smith.
Hard to love movies and not appreciate the work they’ve done over the years.
But some of the best chats I’ve had lately have been with indie filmmakers – names you never heard of (at least for the moment) responsible for films that also won’t ring a bell.
Earlier today I interviewed Michael Lander, the director/co-writer of the intriguing new film “Peacock,” out this week on DVD. He spoke bluntly about his film, a drama starring Cillian Murphy as a man with major gender issues, and how he refused to compromise in making his directorial debut.
He also made me laugh out loud multiple times – maybe he should consider a comedy next time ’round.
Listening to him talk about how hard it is to make a movie reminds me how dedicated today’s budding auteurs must be to see their visions through.
Expect the Q&A with Lander on WWTW in a day or so.
