Jackie Earle Haley went from forgotten teen actor to Oscar nominee thanks to “Little Children” – and a reservoir of talent his early films only hinted at.
Now, he’s the go-to actor for creepy roles, witness his work in “Shutter Island,” “Watchmen” and, starting April 30, “A Nightmare on Elm Street.”
WWTW examines Haley’s career resurgence over at Boxoffice.com. And, just this morning, crack film observer Roger Moore offered this tidbit at the end of his tepid “Nightmare” review:
He’s too good to be sentenced to a life of endless, declining-in-quality sequels and costumed appearances at conventions. That’s the real nightmare here.
I’ll weigh in with my own thoughts on “Nightmare” tomorrow when the film opens nationwide.

Haley is a wonderful actor. My favorite role of his, unbelievably enough, was from “Semi-Pro,” the scorned hippie denied his winnings from a lucky basketball shot. I knew 50 guys who could be “Dukes” and Haley captured a little bit of each one.
