Iron Man enters the ‘No Spin Zone’

It’s safe to say people are sick of seeing Larry King in mainstream movies.

Check out Mr. Suspenders’ impressive imdb.com list. Casting him in a movie is supposed to show the film’s characters – or themes – have infiltrated the culture at large.

But these days King’s audience isn’t nearly as big as it once was, which makes the standard King cameo meaningless.

Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor” draws a much bigger crowd, something that mattered to the folks behind “Iron Man 2.”

No, the invincible one doesn’t do battle with the feisty Fox News anchor in “Iron Man 2,” opening Friday May 7.

But O’Reilly does appear in a faux news segment that ties into the story.

It’s a smart – and funny – moment that plugs Tony Stark’s saga into the real world. And it’s refreshing to see a Hollywood production understand that most audience members will be more familiar with O’Reilly’s reportage than anything King has to say.

I’d give anything to see a scene where Tony Stark goes on O’Reilly’s show, even as a DVD extra.

I won’t give away the scene – but it’s one of many comic highpoints.

is it appropriate for my 10 year old son. By that I mean… the stripper pole in the plane was not a and neither was the post bedded reporter prancing around in her panties…. that being said if it’s quick (like the poles on the plane I can deal with that — I’m not above trickery.

The cameo wasn’t Larry King. It was Marvel creator Stan Lee. Him being referred to as “Mr. King” is part of a running joke from the first movie. Stan Lee always makes cameos in Marvel movies.

Dude, you are sooooo screwed!

You claimed that s “conservative” like O’Reilly was funny!

What is wrong with you? Plus, well, just because more people watch O’Reilly doesn’t mean that, like, more people watch O’Reilly or anything!

What’s Turbo doing over here with all this stripper pole talk? Christian, doesn’t this site have some sort of filter mechanism?
